The Breeding Committees Main Goals:

  • To keep the breed typical according to the STANDARD
  • To aim for good temperament within the breed
  • To reduce the number of affected dogs regarding hereditary diseases/ conditions
  • To keep a gene-variation in the breed

The NTTK Breeding Committee tries to reach NTTK’s Main Goals by:

  • Keeping records of information regarding all hereditary diseases - carriers/cases
  • Making all results regarding HD, LL and PRA official in our Magazine
  • Sending all LL and PRA cases to the TIIS List
  • Educate breeders and owners about the hereditary problems so they know the importance of following NTTK’s requirements/advices
  • Recommending that all Tibetan Terriers should be:
  • X-rayed after on year of age
  • Eye-examined when the dog is 2,4 and 6 years old
  • The dog must have permanent ID prior to those examiniations.

[Most dogs are marked with ID-chip]

Co-operation between NTTK and the breeders

  • We all think it’s important to be open and share our information with each other and keep them in official records
  • The main attitude among the breeders is that NTTK’s rules are positive and necessary for our breed. All serious breeders respect and follow them.
  • We shall never forget that the goal is not to exclude any dog from breeding, but it is sometimes necessary to keep our breed healthy
